Dr. Sylvia Smoller, author of Rachel and Aleks: A Historical Novel of Life, Love, and WWII, is a professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York and holds the Manealoff-Rosen Chair. She leads large national studies on women's health, and heart disease prevention. She has published over one hundred fifty scientific articles as well as a book on medical research methods. She lives in New York City.
